Yikes. We've got you beat on humidity (68%) but the high was 67 degrees. The morning was misty.

Oooh, the sun came out shortly after 7 pm.

you want an untangling challenge? I got M a 'Newton's Cradle' for her birthday. Do you know HOW tangled two little girls can tangle something? my gawd! I had to get cheater glasses, bright light, work table, pokey stick and fuss for an hour to put it right again. Two seconds to tangle. I holler if they try to walk around with it.

The Girls got caught lying to me about stealing ice cream so we had a big bedroom cleaning fest yesterday. Washed three loads of clothes today. It's not done yet.

Uh oh, every time a Newton's Cradle gets tangled, gravity in another dimension is interupted and a planet flies apart.

Almost at 11 PM & the same conditions as 1 AM.

It was 91, humidity 51%, & Heat Index of 100 'bout 3 PM & then we had a quick rain. The temperature dropped to 73 & humidity to 100%. Didn't take long for it to get back up into the low 80s & humidity in the 90s.

I am binge watching Hot in Cleveland.

I could not take the humid heat. No way.

I wouldn't mind a longer PNW summer though. I was looking at Accuweather's July diary for Seattle weather. 18 days of high temps below historical averages (which range from 73 to 77 during July) and 11 days at or above the historical average. Summer was a bit late this year and today I could feel it already slipping away. There was ground fog and the low was 47 degrees this morning. It was mostly clear so the high was 77.

Ugh, Geo. We had very pleasant weather last week, with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s. In August? Perfect.

We're about to pay for it tonight. Ugly, ugly storms coming at us from Iowa, with a derecho. Those things are as bad as a low-level tornado, but they cover swaths of miles, so the destruction just keeps going. Don't want that!

tad warm, lovely all week here. Can't complain.

First time I met HUMID was getting off a plane in FL. BAM! couldn't breath. Why didn't someone warn me? Spent a week in a pool to stay cool. ok, it was like July but a warning would have been good.

The Girls were playing quietly at gram's house. Too quiet! M cut a bit of Rapunzel's hair (4' doll) so A retaliated by cutting a chunk of M's hair. arrghhh!

Re: Dak's Place - 2020 Winter, Spring & Summer

4:00 PM Update: Here's the latest information on the severe weather threat this afternoon and this evening. A strong squall line and derecho that has been producing widespread destruction and wind speeds of 80-100 mph is approaching the Chicago area. Northwestern Indiana should prepare now as this line will likely begin to impact Lake, Porter, Jasper, Newton and Benton Counties between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM (4:00 PM and 5:00 PM CDT).

As this line moves east and eventually southeast across Indiana, damaging winds will remain a threat across all of Indiana. While we expect the strongest winds of 80+ mph to be concentrated over Northwestern Indiana, 60-80 mph wind gusts will remain possible across the rest of the state as the derecho sweeps across the area. Isolated tornadoes will also be possible.

You should treat all severe thunderstorm warnings like they are a tornado warning this evening. If a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, seek shelter in the center of your home, away from windows, or in a basement. These storms have produced widespread damage and destruction over Illinois and Iowa and have caused massive power outages.

Here are some of the confirmed/reported wind gusts from the derecho as it moved through Iowa.

– 106 mph in Le Grand, IA
– 99 mph in Albion, IA
– 95 mph in Marshalltown, IA
– 90 mph in Chelsea, IA
– 88 mph in Urbandale, IA
– 80 mph in Colfax, IA
– 78 mph in Saylorville, IA

As of 2:10 PM EDT, the derecho is just approaching the Iowa/Illinois border. We expect the line to continue to expand in size and it should approach Northwestern Indiana between 4:30 PM (EDT) and 6:00 PM (EDT).

The Weather Channel just reported that as this storm is approaching Chicago, more than a million customers are out of power.
