Re: Dak's Place - 2019 Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall

Heh, heh, D. I'd add make an exception on the 3-second rule if the person behind you is in a wheelchair, on crutches or using a walker. I got miffed a while back when I held the door for a small, slow lady older than I, and several people younger or much younger than I zipped in after her. Maybe they were her family and had a group coupon.

I got up early for the pill schedule and was sitting in the kitchen with the blinds shut when FE escorted Spare Dog in and through the kitchen to the front yard. On his way he'd opened the curtains in the TV room and told me to go look at the sunrise starting. As I stood in front of that window, a big bird silhouette flew against the sky and downward to my pasture. I thought it might have landed but couldn't see it. FE was back and he went for binocs while I went outside to the backyard fence, next to a wide birch tree. I scanned the field a while looking for an owl but had no luck. Then it dropped out of the sky, or one of my trees, nailed something on the ground maybe 40 feet away and flew off. Unfortunately, FE had already gone back to bed and missed it and the rest of a very nice sunrise.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... That sounds beautiful, Gryphon!

I'm not an expert on door etiquette, but I generally hold the door for people anytime I can. I don't pay much attention to differences in temps (unless it's heavily snowing).

G... agreed! Extra door hold time is acceptable for the less nimble.

I always say "Thank You" & if it's Way Hot, Cold, or Raining, I tell them to come on in, I'll wait.

Well, that would certainly excuse her for jury duty for THAT trial!

We're expecting rain, but there's been only a brief, light sprinkle here so far. The temp went from 39 to 58.

The newish next door neighbors are helping with my wild bird food budget by offering lots of goodies. Most of the jays have moved over there since my acorn crop has aged past the green stage. They also seem to be hosting the local Red-winged Blackbirds. It would be nice if the House Sparrows moved there permanently and converted that Purple Martin house to sparrow apartments.

G... here come the rats! I gave up feeding the birds cuz I got raccoons, rats and opossum instead.

I pond-puttered today cuz it was that nice and I heard rumors of storms coming. Still nothing. I found out Yard Dude didn't fill around the pond between tub and dirt. Lots of pockets to fill with rocks out of the yard. Not such a bad thing.

Fixing my coffee with out engaging my brain... Coffee done, add fake sugar & fake creamer. I then added another teaspoon of coffee grounds. Such fun filtering it out & the coffee tastes too strong even with water added.

I've sent three small mice to their heavenly rewards in the past two days & sadly expect that there are more scuttling around in dark closets. All they can find to gnaw on is my scented candles...vanilla seems to be a crowd pleaser.
