Re: Dak's Place - 2020 Winter

My snow expectations have been dialed way back. Should be starting about now and lasting an hour and change. Then bupkis til some weak mix Friday.

Yeah, we're supposed to have a rain/freezing rain/sleet/snow progression Friday and Saturday. Joy.

I had 2 1/4" of snow this morning. The rest of the day was dry with temp going from 27 to 34 degrees.

FE saw 18 hummers on the one 10-port feeder they prefer. At other times, I witnessed three other feeders with one bird each. We tried moving a feeder that's been guarded to a less defensible position near the preferred feeder, but the horde stayed with their first choice.

I went to bed at 2:30 AM & woke back up at 5:30...change in Air Pressure I guess. Didn't have to wait long...more of that much needed rain meant for Australia. Probably get more tomorrow.

some 20 y/o dude in the 'hood had been making a nuisance of himself for a while. Driving crazy, bounced off parked cars, racing around in the middle of the night revving the engine. The whole neighbor was in a tizzy. He broke his truck and got a cute red car. The cops towed it last night in the wee hours. Victory for neighborhood watch!

School had 2 hour late start this morning. They're going to do it again tomorrow. I had at least 4 inches of pretty white stuff. Girls went sledding after school and froze fingers and toes. Most of the snow is still hanging on. Roads are icy. I don't think it got above freezing all day. I'm loving my AWD Element in this stuff. Rumors of more coming tonight.

Goodness! The snow meant for us is in the Great Northwest, and the rain meant for Australia is in the American South.

We have fog so heavy that most local schools closed for the day, and those that opened were two hours late.

I love hearing about your birds, Gryphon.

And hooray for neighborhood watch, Geo. Good grief.

We get Were Wolf Fogs here, too. It's like being in a sound proof world...all sounds are muted. Really spooky when fog is all around you & swirls when you move. I stay in da house!!! Ain't no Were Wolf gonna get me outside in it.

I think this is India, but it gives you a good idea. There have been several times that I literally could not see beyond the front of my car. And most of our students are walkers. They couldn't POSSIBLY cross a street safely. Out on the country roads, the buses have trouble actually staying on the road because they can't see where they are going.
